Word Wall Charts
Each of the 20 Words in Color word charts contains about 35 color-coded words.
All the spellings (graphemes) representing the same sound have the same color.
The words on the same line are not necessarily linked in meaning. However, the words on each and all the charts can be touched with a pointer to form meaningful sentences and paragraphs. For example, in the chart below:
- mum sent sam a map
- tom met pam in a tent
The words have been chosen so that the learners ask themselves the essential questions for learning to read English, for example:
- In which direction is English read? (That is why, "net" and "ten" are side by side.)
- When I hear a sequence of sounds, which spelling should I choose in this context? For example, "won" and "one", "threw" and "through", "two" and "too".
The color code is the same as that used in the Fidel (spelling charts)
