Donald E. Cherry

Donald Cherry began teaching ESL and literacy in his hometown of Chicago in 1985. He went to Japan in 1988, where he has been teaching ESL since, with a break from 1991 to 1994 to travel around the Americas with his wife Kyoko and then to attend the School for International Training in Vermont, where he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching. Don currently teaches at Hiroshima International University.
He has experimented with modifying the Sound/color rectangles chart, see: Silent Way Charts which he has written about in: Experimenting with the Sound/Color Chart for Pronunciation.
He runs Silent Way teacher training classes in Tokyo for The Silent Way and Gattegno Approach group.
